If you are coming to Harris to birdwatch and glimpse rare animals and plants you will not be disappointed. Our wild walks are a great, safe way to venture into Harris' pristine wilderness. Our friendly, experienced, local guides will maximise your chances of spotting eagles, otters, red deer, porpoise, seals, dolphins and other cetaceans such as minke whales, all of which are here if you know where to look for them. Come in autumn to experience the drama of the rut, in summer for the machair flowers. Spring for bright dry cold days with snow still on the peaks.

Our wild walks come in three levels, depending on challenge. Whatever your age, level of fitness or experience, we can tailor the walk for you.

Easy Wild Walk
You do not need to go far in Harris for chances to see otters, cetaceans, eagles, a myriad of wild flowers and our amazing birds, many of which are rare throughout the rest of Britain. We know where to find the wildlife at any time of year, and will take you on a pleasant half-day stroll to find them. Expect level terrain making use of paths and tracks. 2-6km (up to 2.5 hours)

Price: £25 per person with a minimum charge of £50 per walk. Ideal for singles, couples and small family groups. A maximum of 8 people can be taken at one time. We do not usually take multiple bookings as we like to give your party a personal experience. |

A fascinating introduction to Harris's wilder areas and more elusive animals and birds. These are walks on paths (sometimes steep) or moderate off piste terrain. 5- 15km (up to 4 hours).
Expect to see golden eagles, sea eagles, red deer, divers, wading birds, sea birds, otters, whales, dolphins and seals.
Examples- Glen Ulladale, Hushinish to Cravadale
Archaeology Walks are also offered in this category, with Lewis based archaeologist Ian Machardy. Walk with him through fascinating evidence of 7,000 years of human occupation.
Examples-West Coast of Lewis, Riof, Mangersta, Dalbeg, Bragar.

If you want to get in amongst the peaks, let us guide you. Exciting, rough, challenging terrain can be expected. Wild swims can be included! 10 to 25km (up to 8 hours). Expect to see red deer, golden and sea eagles, mountain hare, rare plants, funghi and lichens.
Examples: The Clisham Horseshoe, Meavaig to Bogha Glas, Ulladale to Diraskil.

Do you long to cook over a fire and hunker down under a blanket of stars? Do you need time to linger and soak up the peace and atmosphere of Harris' mysterious sheilings, wild beaches and hidden glens? A Wild Harris camp is the answer, and we can provide everything you need.
This is a truly bespoke service. We understand that people are looking for different levels of support. You might like us to show you to your camp spot and then leave you to it, or you might like us to provide everything, including dinner, breakfast and company throughout. When at camp, we can offer bush-craft, camp skills, foraging, campfire cooking and even fishing- nearly anything is possible!
Example locations: A sheiling by a waterfall at the foot of the mountains, or a wild beach covered in driftwood perfect for a beach fire.

Prices:
Camping prices start at £100 for a group of 4. Then add on the price of the walk needed to get to and from your camp spot. E.G. 4 people requiring a Basic camp @£100 plus Medium Walk x 2 (there and back) @£100 comes to a total of £300 A basic camp means you provide and carry your own food and sleeping bag/roll mat. We carry and provide tents and cooking equipment. |
Foraged extras such as scallops and mackerel cost nothing. Sometimes, if it's calm and you are keen to stay quite close to base, we can use the canoe!
Extras such as fully catered camps with all equipment provided will cost a little more. Ask for a quote.
Please avoid July and August as midges often make camping unpleasant in these months!
