Until recently I managed The Scaladale Outdoor Centre. On moving to Harris in 2016 I transitioned from classroom teacher to outdoor educator and youth worker at Scaladale. Whilst working at the Centre I gained a raft of outdoor qualifications and an intimate knowledge of Harris; its shores and hills.
Wild Harris is now my business and I handle all the sea kayaking and bookings. I am a SCA level 3 coach have been coaching and guiding sea kayakers in Harris' sheltered sea lochs and bays for the last 5 seasons. I have introduced countless people, young and old to the activity and have a spotless record for safety. I have developed a deep love for sea kayaking and my amazing island home. I am also a level 2 mountain bike leader and experienced hill and moorland leader with camping endorsement. Wild Harris often shares larger group bookings with the Scaladale Centre. You will also meet me if you book a Scaladale Power Boat trip! www.scaladale-centre.co.uk |
As a marine Biologist and former North Harris Trust Ranger; Daryll has a fantastic eye for wildlife and a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to share. He is available Mondays and Fridays to make sure you see eagles, otters, red deer, mountain hare, and a myriad of birds and marine creatures, possibly to include minke whales, porpoise and dolphins.
As Ranger, Daryll lead a regular weekly whale and dolphin walk and created the North Harris Snorkel Trail. As an experienced mountain guide he will plan your Wild Walk to fit your aspirations. He is keen to show you the less trodden peaks and glens that form the real wilderness interior of North Harris. Daryll is also a BSAC Snorkel Leader and British Cycling Level 2 Mountain Bike Leader. He works 3 days a week for Cycling UK as Rural Connections Development Officer, giving Wild Harris the rest of his time. Wild Walks and snorkelling will have to be booked well in advance. He is in demand! |
